Marny's Needlework Paintings

One of the nicest compliments I've ever received came from a gallery owner – "Marny’s work pleases the eye and delights the spirit". This is what I hope other people will feel when they see these "needlework paintings" which grew out of my two favorite pastimes – water-coloring and sewing. The process takes hours. On cotton fabric I begin each individual piece by drawing the figures in the foreground; then I paint the background, in stages. Once the final layer of paint is dry I begin my needlework. Each work is unique, which makes them rather special. There are so many images dancing in my head that I hope to keep busy making these pieces until my eyes cloud over. Each finished piece is mounted on a backing board and matted to fit a standard 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch picture frame.
